[June 14, 2019]
Area 4-H youth with a passion for horses participated in the annual
Sangamon, Logan and Menard County 4-H Horse Show on June 9th at
Refuge Ranch in Rochester. Fifteen 4-H members ranging in ages 8-18
showed their riding skills in Western and English styles, their
knowledge of horses and teamwork.
The primary objective of the 4-H Horse project is to provide an
interactive, hands-on way for youth to explore raising and showing
horses while developing life skills. 4-H members have the
opportunity to handle, care for, and ride horses, as well as learn
about the equine industry.
The 4-H members that participated in the 2019 4-H Horse Show were:
Abigail Osterman, Madelynn Furkin, Avery Beck, John Walker, Mary
Brown, Kristina Hemberger, Madisyn Hanson, Regan Bartels, Kylee
Furbeck, Sarah Hemberger, Katherine Walker, Mabel Fleck, Megan
Nation, Ellie Mendenhall all of Sangamon County; Ruthie Ruhl and
Charlotte Toohill of Logan County.

with her horse and learning what she needs to do to be successful this year in
the 4-H Horse Project.”
