Send a link to a friend On Friday, Flag Day,
the American Legion in Lincoln hosted its annual Flag Burning
Ceremony. Burning of the flag in a respectful manner is proper
disposal for flags that are worn, torn, tattered and faded. Before
the disposal of the flags, an official retirement ceremony is
conducted by members of the Legion Color Guard.
Children from Christian Child Care in Lincoln attended to witness
the ceremony. Each one was given a small flag to take home and a
history of the proper flag as well as procedures for the proper
			etiquette for the flag.

Then the flags were solemnly placed on the burning pile. Among those
helping this year was World War II veteran Bill Gossett of Lincoln.
