The Lincoln College Softball team recently
learned that six of their student-athletes have been recognized
for excellence in the classroom for the 2018-19 academic year by
softball equipment manufacturer Easton Sports and the National
Fast-pitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have a
minimum 3.5 GPA throughout the academic year. The six players
from Lincoln who qualified for the Easton/NFCA All-America
Scholar Athlete list include freshmen Olivia Sanders (Clinton),
Bryanne McBride (New Athens), and Brooke Friesner (Moweaqua),
sophomores Marcie Shannon (Alpha) and Melissa Benson (Morris),
and junior Seleste Smith (Sullivan).
Lincoln College Head Softball Coach Boyd Nowicki believes his
players are deserving of recognition. "My staff and I are very
proud of our student-athlete’s accomplishments in the classroom.
Academic success is something we stress on our team. However, in
the end their level of success is all up to the student-athletes
themselves. Their accomplishments this year are truly
remarkable.”
The complete listing of Easton/NFCA All America Scholar Athletes
by membership divisions and school will be announced later in
the fall.
