On
Tuesday, June 25, 2019, the numbers 62519 held special meaning for
the small Logan County community of Cornland. With a total
population of 73 people, 78 turned out at the Cornland Post Office
to celebrate Zip Code Day in the town. Of course, the idea is that
once every 100 years, the date and the Cornland zip code are the
same 6-25-19. What started as a word of mouth invitation to a little
recognition event turned in to a city-wide celebration and a call to
celebrate the uniqueness of the community. As another interesting
tidbit, consider this. All across the country town names are
replicated in different states such as Lincoln, Illinois and
Lincoln, Nebraska. To the best of anyone's knowledge, in all the
country there is only one Cornland, and we have it right here in
Logan County!
