In a record-setting performance
Monday night, No. 2 Virginia cruised past Syracuse 79-53 in
Syracuse, N.Y.
The Cavaliers knocked down a school-record-tying 18 3-pointers,
which was also the most Syracuse had ever allowed. Virginia took 25
shots from beyond the arc.
Kyle Guy made eight of those treys on just 10 attempts as he scored
a game-high 25 points to help Virginia (27-2, 15-2 Atlantic Coast
Conference) complete a second-half comeback.
Syracuse (19-11, 10-7) led by two points at halftime but was
outscored by 28 in the game's final 20 minutes. Tyus Battle, Buddy
Boeheim and Elijah Hughes led the Orange with 11 points apiece.
No. 8 Texas Tech 70, Texas 51
Jarrett Culver scored 16 points and Matt Mooney added 15 as the Red
Raiders dominated from start to finish against the Longhorns at
Lubbock, Texas.
The Red Raiders (25-5, 13-4 Big 12) kept pace with Kansas State for
the conference lead with one regular-season game to play. Texas Tech
completed a regular-season sweep over Texas for the first time since
the 1995-96 campaign and added to a pair of program records by
earning a 13th conference victory and extending their conference
winning streak to eight games.

The Longhorns (16-14, 8-9) lost for the third time in their past
four games. Matt Coleman led Texas with 16 points, and Elijah Mitrou-Long
had 11.
No. 18 Kansas State 64, TCU 52
The Wildcats outscored the Horned Frogs 15-3 in the first five
minutes of the second half to blow open a close game on the way to a
victory in Fort Worth, Texas.
The victory put the Wildcats (23-7, 13-4 Big 12) a game away from
their first conference title since 2013. If the Wildcats win their
final game Saturday at home to Oklahoma, they are guaranteed at
least a share of the conference title. Texas Tech, which defeated
Texas to maintain its share of the conference lead, finishes at Iowa
State on Saturday.
TCU (18-12, 6-11) was led by a career-high 17 points by freshman
Kevin Samuel. RJ Nembhard added 12 points.
