This past week three Logan County schools played in
the Illinois Elementary School State Volleyball Eighth Grade
Volleyball Championship
Eighth Grade Class 1-A
Hartsburg-Emden State Champions
The Hartsburg-Emden Volleyball power house went up
against the Peoria Limestone Walters for Championship State title
winning 25-8, 25-7.
As eight-consecutive-year State Champs, the Stags
finished their season 24-2-0.
In semi-finals Hartsburg–Emden defeated Royal Prairie
Ogden 25-12, 25-4.
The Stags biggest challenge in their run for state
champion was made by local rivals (friendly) West Lincoln Broadwell
Wolverines. Knocking WLB out in opening round play it took three
sets 25-17, 13-25, 25-11.
It was interesting to note that the only other
three-set play in the tournament was in the opening round also, and
it was with Peoria Limestone who went on to play against the Stags
for first place. In opening round Peoria beat Morrisonville JH
25-14, 22-25, 25-20.

Eighth Grade Class 2-A
Mount Pulaski State Champions
Mount Pulaski saw Kewanee Whethersfield in a
challenging three set play for the championship winning 25-15,
19-25, 25-15.
The Honeybears finished the season 25-4-0.
In their climb to playoffs, Mount Pulaski won over
Mendota Unity 22-25, 25-19, 21-25 in Semi-finals.
The Honeybears beat Raymond Lincolnwood with extended
play in set one to win 27-25 and winning set two 25-17.
Congratulations to all our fine eighth grade
volleyball players who performed so well and to their coaches!
