Mount Pulaski Honeybears win Eighth Grade Class 2A State Tournament - that's
a three-peat!

MountPulaski Volleyball Team
won the Eighth Grade Class Class 2A State Championship on Saturday at Auburn High School. In the opening round of the state tournament Friday night, the Honeybears defeated Raymond Lincolnwood 27-25 and 25-17.

In the semifinals on Saturday, the Honeybears defeated Mendon Unity 25-22, 19-25 and 25-21. Coach Donna Dulle said after the win, "This game was a very exciting game with two good teams. It was a total team effort. It was a good defensive effort by Alexis Wade and Kenna Wilham. They both dug the ball well. On offense, Alexis Wade and Jena Rentmeister stepped up. Hailee Daigh distributed the ball well and both Grace Davis and Keyleigh Stewart served well."

In the championship game, the Honeybears beat Kewanee Wethersfield 25-15, 19-25 and 25-15. Following the state title match, Dulle said, "It was a great way to end the season. Everyone contributed. Hailee Daigh dished out 38 assists. It was fun to watch this team. I am proud of all of their accomplishments. They have won state the past three years."

Dulle was also appreciative of how fantastic the students and fans were during the season. "A special thanks to the Elkhart and Mount Pulaski Fire Departments for a great escort back to town," she said.
