On Sunday, March 17th – St. Patrick’s Day, a large crowd enjoyed the annual Boys Scout Barbecue in Lincoln. It was a fun day for many as they took advantage of the St. Pat’s traditions to don their green for a Sunday lunch.

Around the banquet hall at the Lincoln Knights of Columbus the scouts were busy waiting tables, carrying food and drink to guests, helping keep the carry out room well stocked with desserts, setting tables, and greeting guests.

Also around the room a large number of folks were wearing their green, some subtle and some extreme.

In the kitchen, scouts, scout leaders and scout parents were kept constantly busy preparing plates filled with pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, and coleslaw.  For the youngsters who didn’t really want a barbecue sandwich, a hot dog lunch was also offered.

While many enjoyed eating in, the carry out area was also busy as guests ran in for a great lunch on the run.

The dessert selection was enormous once again this year as scout parents pitched in and brought in homemade cakes, pies, brownies, cookies and much more!

The annual event is a large fundraiser for the scouts with the money going toward a variety of things to directly benefit Lincoln Boys Scouts, including financial assistance for scouts who need just a little help in order to be able to have their equipment and take the scouting trips.

All around, it was a good day, with the scouts working hard and all their guests appreciating their helpfulness as well as the fantastic lunch.
