[March 20, 2019]  Featuring life-like simulations in the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation, a free community event will teach the public how to handle life-threatening bleeding incidents.

The interactive program, “Stop the Bleed,” will be offered in two sessions on Saturday, March 30. Participants can register for either session.

The first session will run from 10 to noon; the second session runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Seating is limited to 60 participants each session.

"An injury can cause a person to bleed to death in less than five minutes," said Jenn Davis, director of emergency medical services at Memorial Medical Center. "Life-threatening bleeds can happen at home, at work or in the community from either a natural or intentional wound. This course will help participants learn how to act immediately to save themselves or someone else."

Participants can be any age and should dress for active participation. Each participant will receive a free emergency kit with tourniquet, thanks to a grant from the Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
