[March 20, 2019]    The Lincoln College Softball team made their home debut for the 2019 season Tuesday when they hosted the Trinity International University Trojans.

The first game of the double header saw the Trojans strike first, scoring two runs in the opening inning of play and adding three more on a bases-loaded double in the top of the third. TIU continued to add on runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to build a 9-0 lead. LC would respond with three runs in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh, but it would not be enough as Trinity took game one 9-4. LC’s Kerstin Osborne (Lincoln) took the loss.

Game two got off to a much better start for the Lady Lynx as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first and exploded for six in the fourth inning to build an 8-1 advantage. Olivia Sanders (Clinton) was able to shut down the Trinity offense the rest of the way to earn the win.

Offensive leaders on the day for LC included a five-for-six performance by Kerstin Osborne, Melissa Benson (Morris) and Rodjanne DuPont Barlow (Clinton) each went four-for-seven, and Petersburg, Illinois native Ali Nowicki went two-for four at the plate as well.

On Thursday LC (2-12) will travel to play a double-header at Lindenwood-Belleville University.
