In February it took the Lynx five sets to
overcome LBU at their gym, but this time Lincoln go the job done
in four (23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20) for their 14th win of the
season against just six losses.
Three players for LC reached double-digits in kills in the
match. Leading the team was sophomore left side Ramon Matos
(Chicago) who pounded down 13 kills. Senior Corey Poindexter
(Overland, MO) had 11 kills and junior Charles Carter (Blue
Island) was good for 10. Junior Brian Orellana (Chicago) and
freshman Nick Washington (St. Louis, MO) shared the setting
duties. Orellana recorded 28 set assists in the match and
Washington found LC hitters 24 times for kills. Libero Trenton
Kielion (Princeville) led the defensive effort for the Lynx with
19 digs.
“We had a tough time getting into our offense in set one,” said
Lincoln Coach Mark Tippett. “But we did a nice job of staying
positive in set two and finding new ways to score. Once we
regained our confidence, we played a very consistent and
fundamentally sound match,” he added.
LC’s scheduled matches at home this weekend have been cancelled
due to travel issues for the visiting teams. Therefore,
Lincoln’s next match will be March 26th at St. Ambrose
University.
