Peggy Lee will provide a program on “The
Wildflowers of Elkhart Hill: A Colorful Pictorial of Spring Beauty.”
Elkhart Hill has long been known for its fabulous displays of
Virginia Bluebells and other wildflowers in the spring. Dr. Lee will
facilitate a photo presentation of Elkhart’s spring flowers
accompanied by music, poetry, and folklore.
Among the many flowers featured will be Virginia
Bluebells, Bloodroot, Spring Beauty, Larkspur, Dutchman’s Breeches,
Trillium, Buttercup and Sweet William. The talk will include stories
about the flowers, discussion of poisonous wildflowers, historical
anecdotes on how the pioneers and Indians used the spring flowers,
and songs and poems about wildflowers.
