[March 23, 2019]   LINCOLN - Join University of Illinois Extension Logan County Master Gardener volunteers on Monday, March 25, at 9 am at the Logan County Extension office, 980 N. Postville Drive, Lincoln for a program on wildflowers.

Peggy Lee will provide a program on “The Wildflowers of Elkhart Hill: A Colorful Pictorial of Spring Beauty.” Elkhart Hill has long been known for its fabulous displays of Virginia Bluebells and other wildflowers in the spring. Dr. Lee will facilitate a photo presentation of Elkhart’s spring flowers accompanied by music, poetry, and folklore.

Among the many flowers featured will be Virginia Bluebells, Bloodroot, Spring Beauty, Larkspur, Dutchman’s Breeches, Trillium, Buttercup and Sweet William. The talk will include stories about the flowers, discussion of poisonous wildflowers, historical anecdotes on how the pioneers and Indians used the spring flowers, and songs and poems about wildflowers.

This program will also be offered on Monday, March 25, at 1 pm, at the Oasis Senior Center in 2810 Woodlawn Road, Lincoln.
