The state average corn yield was 210.0 bushels
per acre, compared to the 201 bushel per acre average of the
2017 season.
The 2018 yield average for Logan was 236.2
bushels per acre. By comparison, last year Logan County averaged
213.0. This 236.2 yield surpasses the previous record of 230.8
set in 2014 for Logan County.
Top corn yield counties were Douglas with 246,
Piatt at 241.8, Warren at 241.7, Macon yielding 239.9, and
Sangamon with a yield of 236.4.
McLean had the top county production for corn
with 71,884,000 bushels for the county.
Production in Logan County was 40,657,000 bushels
on 172,100 acres harvested. The new 10 year average corn yield
is 188.84 for Logan County.
The state soybean average yield was 65 bushels to
the acre, exceeding the 2017 average of 58.
Top counties were Sangamon with 82.3, Morgan
yielding 81.6, Douglas averaging 80.0, Piatt yielding 79.2 and
Moultrie at 77.7.
Logan County averaged 71.8bushels per acre,
besting the previous record of 66.6 achieved in 2016. Logan
County production was 11,175,000 bushels from a harvested
acreage of 155,700.
McLean County once again led in county production
with 21,516,000 bushels. The new 10 year average yield for
soybeans is 59.0 in Logan County.
