The Lincoln College Men’s Volleyball team traveled to Davenport,
Iowa on Tuesday evening to take on the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees.
Lincoln pushed St. Ambrose to a fourth set and almost forced a
fifth, but in the end was unable to upset the #10 ranked Bees on
their home court and returned home with a four-set loss.
LC got off to a rough start and had a hard time catching up to the
speed of the St. Ambrose attack. Lincoln dropped the first two sets
of the match by scores of 25-15 and 25-19.

In set three, the Lynx found their offensive rhythm early on and
built a five-point lead that was later extended to seven when they
took a 17-10 advantage. Lincoln would go on to take the set 25-19.

In set four, The Lynx played with renewed confidence and the two
teams battled back and forth throughout the early going. SAU
eventually took a 19-14 lead, but Lincoln was able to rally and cut
the lead to just one point at 23-22. However, their comeback bid
came up short as the Bees won the next two points to take the set
			25-22 and end the match.
Lincoln was led in kills by sophomore Ramon Matos (Chicago) who
racked up 14 ono the night. Senior Bryan Orellana (Chicago) had 15
set assists and fellow setter Nick Washington (St. Louis, MO) was
credited with 12. Senior Deantrius Coleman (North Chicago) was a
force at the net, collecting 5 blocks in the match, and libero
Trenton Kielion (Princeville) contributed in the back row with 11
			digs.

“We got off to a slow start in this one,” said LC Coach Mark Tippett.
“That has been typical of our team this year, but we have usually
been able to make adjustments quicker that we did tonight and that
meant we had no room for error after dropping the first two sets.
Even though we took the loss, I was proud of the way we kept
battling and stayed positive the whole way.”
Lincoln (14-7) will return home Thursday evening for their final
home match of the season. The Lynx will take on Missouri Baptist
University at 7:00 PM. MBU comes into the match the top ranked team
in the nation. The LC JV will also play MBU in a match that will
			begin at 5:00 PM.
