[March 28, 2019]    Lincoln hosted Normal at Schweitzer Field Wednesday night and kept the game close early but came up on the losing end 8-3.

Normal struck first with a couple runs in the top of the second inning, but Lincoln tied the game in their bottom half.

Mya Kate Kirgan walked to lead off the inning. She stole second just ahead of a walk to Sydney Sutherland. The runners advanced bases on a groundout by Bayleigh Gillum. Chloe Laubenstein then came up clutch with a two-run single with two outs that scored Kirgan and Sutherland to tie the game 2-2.

Normal took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third inning. The Ironmen added another run in the top of the fourth inning, but could've done more damage if not for the Railsplitters outstanding defense.

Normal did open the game up in the top half of the sixth inning, scoring three runs and taking an 8-2 lead over Lincoln. Jacey Cooper's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning settled the score at 8-3.

Abby Glenn went the distance for Lincoln and got the loss.

Chloe Laubenstein stays hot with another outstanding performance at the plate. She was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

Sydney Sutherland is still on fire. She was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Railsplitters all continue to hit well, pounding out 12 hits versus Normal.

Lincoln will play Saturday at Mahomet-Seymour at 11 a.m.
