The Lincoln College Women’s Golf team recently
kicked off their spring season by entering athletes in the
Missouri Valley College Spring Invite held March 25th and 26th
at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall, Missouri.
The three golfers who represented LC were Paige Gibson
(O’Fallon), Jaylee Swinford (Lincoln) and Danielle Abella (Sherrard).
Gibson shot a total of 199(104-95) for the event and was the
team’s highest finisher coming in 24th place overall. Swinford
ended the weekend with a total of 211 (107-104) and Abella shot
237 (124-113).
According to LC Women’s Golf Coach Carol Wilson, “This was a
very challenging course for our first spring event. The ladies
had never played this course before, so adjustments needed to be
made after day one. The second day we improved 23 strokes. I’m
sure that will continue as we are able to get outside more to
work on our short game as the weather improves!”
The Lady Lynx will be in action next on Sunday, March 31st at
the Illinois College Invite at Jacksonville Country Club in
Jacksonville, Illinois.
