Girls overall team winners

Sunny skies finally broke through late Wednesday morning for the 2019 Boys and Girls Logan County Track Meet. Really wet conditions prevented all but one of the field events from being held on the Lincoln Community High School track. The only field event that took place was the high jump.

The running events went off without a hitch on the all-weather track and at the end of the day at least two new records were set:

~ Becca Heitzig of WLB set the new record for the 7th grade 800m (2:37.00)

~ WLB 7th grade girls 4x400 relay set a new record (4:51.4)

The WLB 4x400 relay team consisted of Jenna Bowman, Mallory Short, Becca Heitzig and Kloe Froebe.

Hats off to the scorers for such a phenomenal job organizing everything.

*Note: Lincoln Junior High School participates in the Logan County Track Meet but because they are a larger school they are not included in the team points, therefore they do not have the opportunity to win the overall competition.

It's worth mentioning the smiles and camaraderie among all the athletes of the different Logan County schools. Track can be a very individualized sport but it can also bring athletes together and connect them in ways other sports cannot. The competition at this year's track meet featured many phenomenal athletes from around the area who all pushed each other to perform their best. Congratulations to all the athletes and good luck at sectionals coming up!
