[May 16, 2019]

The always popular Super Late Models are set for their first of two appearances at Lincoln Speedway, in Lincoln, IL, this coming Friday, May 17. It also marks the 2019 opener for the Midwest Big Ten Super Late Model tour, after the original opener was rained out at Belle-Clair Speedway. Four other racing divisions will join the Super Late Models on Friday night.

The Midwest Big Ten Super Late Models have a ten event schedule with events at Lincoln Speedway and Highland Speedway this weekend. In addition, events are scheduled to be held at Macon Speedway, Jacksonville Speedway, Spoon River Speedway, and Belle-Clair Speedway throughout the course of the summer months. Friday’s Lincoln event will be a tune-up for the highly attended June 30 Summer Nationals event at the track.

Last season, Fairview Heights, IL’s Daryn Klein, claimed the victory in the Super Late Model shootout at the track over Michael Kloos, Rickey Frankel, Rusty Griffaw, and hometown favorite, Myles Moos. 19 drivers took the green. Rain claimed the 2017 event, while Rich Bell bested a field of 22 cars in 2016. 2018 point champion, Jose Parga, of New Berlin, IL, is expected to be on track to start his title defense.

While the DIRTcar Pro Late Model division is not scheduled to run this Friday night, a number of drivers in the class may take advantage of the chance to compete with the Supers and gain valuable track time. A $100 bonus has also been put up for the top finishing Pro Late Model competitor. The event pays $1500 to win and $150 to start.

The DIRTcar Modifieds will be running for the fourth time this season as last year’s champion, Brian Lynn, leads the field. Lynn, of Mason City, IL, has three top fives and a feature win and has built a 16 point lead.

Tommy Sheppard, Jr. is second in the standings, while Ray Bollinger is third, Austin Lynn fourth, and Jared Thomas fifth. In addition to Lynn’s win, Bollinger and Rick Conoyer have found victory lane. NASCAR's Kenny Wallace has also announced he'd be back this Friday night to compete with Lincoln Speedway's strong field of Mods.

The DIRTcar Street Stocks are back for another event at the track. While the Street Stocks don’t compete for official championship points at the track, Terry Reed, of Decatur, IL has had a good start at the speedway with the most consistent finishes so far this year. Darrell Dick, Andy Zahnd, Rudy Zaragoza, and Braden Bilger have also faired well in the two races at the track. Jeremy Nichols won the Midwest Stock Car Tour event, while Nick Macklin claimed the Big Ten win.

Mason City, IL’s Andy Baugh leads the field of Nutech Seed DII Midgets coming into the fourth night of action. Baugh has won two of the three features but came up short in the most recent event as Karter Sarff took the win. Brandon Smith, Patrick Ryan, Mark McMahill, and Jeff Sparks round out the top five in standings. The Nutech Seed Front Row Challenge will be $300 for a driver that accepts the challenge and can win from the back on Friday night.

The final division on the Friday night docket will be the DIRTcar Hornets. Pekin, IL’s Danny Oates is off to a great start, holding the point lead by two after grabbing three top five finishes. Eric Vanapeldoorn, who has won two of the three features is second in points, while Cook Crawford, Carter Dart, and Brady Reed are top five competitors.

Grandstand admission for Friday’s event is just $15 for adults and free for kids 11 and under. Parking is also free. Pits open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps will start at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00 PM.
