Lincoln Scholarship Scramble raises $10,000 for Heartland Community College students

 

[May 21, 2019]  LINCOLN - Golfers and sponsors have raised $10,000 for Logan County students to attend Heartland Community College.

The Heartland Community College Foundation Lincoln Scholarship Scramble was held on May 10 at Lincoln Elks Country Club. All funds raised from the event are targeted to support access and learning opportunities for Logan County students.

“We’re extremely grateful for the support of the individuals and businesses who have made an investment in the future of Logan County,” said Chris Downing, Executive Director of the Heartland Foundation. “Heartland is offering more learning opportunities at Lincoln Center and the funds raised by the Scholarship Scramble will open the doors for area students to pursue their goals.”

Since opening in the spring of 2018, the new Heartland Lincoln Center facility has offered expanded Work Ready programs including a Phlebotomy class which boasted a 100 percent pass rate. The larger center gives Logan County students an increased number of options closer to home.

“Lincoln Center will offer a Certified Nursing Assistant program this fall. We have also added Agriculture classes to the curriculum for the upcoming fall semester,” Kristi Powell, Associate Director of Heartland Lincoln Center. “The HCC Foundation scholarships will assist even more Logan County students in these programs and others.”

There are a wide variety of Foundation scholarships available for students including those entering high-demand fields, experiencing financial need, high achieving learners, and for those who are the first member of their family to attend college.
