Lincoln College Men’s Basketball standout Julian Powell completed his senior season with the Lynx this spring and is now looking to continue his playing career at the professional level. Powell, a 6’9” forward from Baytown, Texas, has taken a big step toward making that goal a reality by signing with Todd Perkins, an agent at the Kilimanjaro Sports Agency (KSM). Kilimanjaro represents NBA as well as overseas basketball talent including Jonathan Simmons of the Philadelphia 76’ers, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Abdel Nader, and Overseas Elite Pro D.J. Kennedy.

Powell says he is excited to be taking this next step in his athletic career. “After signing my contract, I felt like I had beaten the odds. It shows that people like me from a small town like Baytown can make it. I hope to spark a flame for others to go after their dreams.”

Powell expects to start working out with professional trainers soon and is hopeful he can land a spot in the NBA Summer League.

The Lincoln College coaching staff is also enthusiastic about Julian Powell’s plans to turn pro. Head Coach Pat Lepper commented that, “Ju’s passion for winning, getting better, and being a great teammate will transfer well to the pro-level.”

Assistant Coach Edwind McGhee agrees that Powell is ready for the challenges of being a professional athlete. “Julian talked about being a pro every day, and his work ethic reflected just that. I am excited for the opportunities that Julian will have in his professional career,” said McGhee.

Julian Powell transferred to Lincoln College in the fall of 2018 from St. Peter University (NCAA DI) in New Jersey. He made an immediate impact on the court for the Lynx as he led the team in field goal percentage, rebounds, and blocked shots. Powell was also ranked 20th in the nation in number of double-doubles recorded this season and was named LC’s Newcomer of the Year at the department’s recent Athletics Award Ceremony.
