Dunlap edges Railsplitters 2-1 in sectional baseball

It was a pitcher's duel Wednesday night at the Morton Sectional as Dunlap defeated Lincoln 2-1. Taylor Catton got the win for Dunlap. He tossed a complete game and allowed just one run on six hits. Catton struck out ten batters. For the Railsplitters Nate Arnold suffered the loss, allowing just two runs on five hits over six innings. Arnold struck out nine batters and only walked one.

Dunlap took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run single with two outs.

Lincoln scored their only run of the game in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Arnold.

The 2-1 win advances Dunlap to the Sectional Championship on Saturday versus Galesburg.

The Railsplitters end the season with a 21-15 record.
