The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team
defeated Roosevelt University 86-68 at home on Wednesday evening
to claim their first win of the season and even their record at
1-1.
Senior Erynn Young (Indianapolis) and junior Kaleia Monteiro
(Rockford) each recorded double-doubles for points and rebounds
in the game. Young poured in 29 points and grabbed 14 rebounds
while Monteiro was good for 17 points and 14 rebounds of her
own. Senior Nautica Preston (Chicago) scored 17 points as well
going 10-for-13 from the free throw line and she had four
steals.
“We placed a huge focus on making better decisions in transition
and rebounding this week,” said LC Head Coach Victoria Crawford.
“There was a period when the momentum shifted and Roosevelt took
full advantage of our lack of focus and execution, but, overall,
I was impress with the intensity that we played with,” she
added.
Lincoln will try to pick up another win at home on Saturday,
November 2nd when they host William Woods University at 1:00 PM.
