Members of the Lincoln College Contemporary Jazz Ensemble will
perform Thursday, November 7, at Spirited Republic, 509 Pulaski, in
downtown Lincoln. The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. and run
until 8:30 p.m.
The Contemporary Jazz Ensemble will perform a second show Friday,
November 15, at Guest House, 113 S. Kickapoo, in downtown Lincoln.
The performance will begin at 6:00 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m.
Autumn menu offerings include coffee beverages and pastries. The
student’s performance is sponsored by Lincoln Dental Center, Town
and Country Bank, and Rick Hamm State Farm Insurance Agency.
“We are incredibly grateful for downtown businesses opening their
doors to our jazz performers. It’s a great opportunity for the
students to gain experience performing before a live audience at a
commercial venue,” said Denise La Grassa, lead faculty member for
the contemporary jazz studies program at Lincoln College.

La Grassa added, “the performance also provides the Lincoln community with a
sampling of songs from our upcoming original revue on the main stage in December
at the Johnston Center.”
The full Jazz Ensemble will present “Jump, Jive, Jukebox” on the main stage of
the Johnston Center December 5-6 at 7:00 p.m. The performance tells the tale of
aspiring musicians, rejection in the music industry, and a magical jukebox.
Additionally, Jump Jive Jukebox sweatshirts will go on sale at the end of
November to raise money for the contemporary jazz studies program. Sponsorship
for the sale of the music revue sweatshirts were provided by the Music Shoppe
and Music Shoppe co-sponsor, Jupiter Music, an international instrument company.
