Ohio State tops No. 10 Villanova

Duane Washington Jr. scored 11
of his 14 points in the first three minutes as No. 16 Ohio State
jumped to a double-digit lead before cruising to a 76-51 win over
No. 10 Villanova on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio.
D.J. Carton and Luther Muhammad added 11 points apiece, and CJ
Walker and Kaleb Wesson scored 10 each for the Buckeyes (3-0), who
led by as many as 27 points in the first half, after opening on a
19-3 run.
Jermaine Samuels led Villanova (1-1) with 14 points. Cole Swider had
11 and Collin Gillespie had 10 points and five assists.
The matchup was part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games between the Big Ten
and Big East and honors Dave Gavitt, founder of the Big East.
Villanova played for the first time in Columbus, although this is
the fourth meeting in a series that the Buckeyes lead 3-1.
No. 4 Louisville 91, Indiana State 62
Jordan Nwora scored 21 points, and the Cardinals eased to a
nonconference win over the Sycamores. Louisville canned 58.5 percent
of its shots from the field and dominated the glass 42-21, more than
making up for 15 turnovers.
Samuell Williamson added 15 points while Dwayne Sutton chipped in a
14-point, 10-rebound double-double and Lamarr Kimble contributed 13
points for the Cardinals (3-0).
Tyreke Key scored 20 points for Indiana State (0-2).
No. 11 Texas Tech 103, Houston Baptist 74

Freshman Jahmi'us Ramsey scored 20 of his game-high 25 points in the
first half to lead the Red Raiders to a victory over the Huskies in
a nonconference game at the neutral site of Midland, Texas.
TJ Holyfield added 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field,
Kyler Edwards had 13 points, and Davide Moretti finished with 12
points and six assists for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders (3-0) made
59.7 percent of their shots, including 46.7 percent from 3-point
range.
Houston Baptist (0-3) was led by Jalon Gates' 21 points on 8-of-13
shooting from the field, including five 3-pointers. Ian Dubose added
20 points.
VCU 84, No. 23 LSU 82
Marcus Santos-Silva scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the
host Rams beat the Tigers and former VCU coach Will Wade in a
nonconference game in Richmond, Va.
De'Riante Jenkins added 15 points, including two decisive free
throws, and Marcus Evans also had 15 for VCU (3-0). Vince Williams
and Issac Vann scored 11 each for the hosts.
Skylar Mays scored 23 points to lead LSU (1-1), but he came up short
three times in the final minute while attempting to provide a
victory for Wade, who left the Rams to join the Tigers 2 1/2 years
ago. Javonte Smart scored 15 points.
