Just the
real thing
We
are experiencing turbulent times in our nation, both socially and
politically. We all encounter great polarity and divisiveness on a daily
basis, even here in our own community. The U.S. news media and U.S.
media outlets participate in and even lead in our national dividedness.
Balanced, unbiased and factual reporting seem to be a thing of the past.

 Recently Lincoln Daily News received an anonymous letter
accusing us of being biased against the current President and cherry-picking
articles that attacked him, leaving out articles which support him. The writer
said Lincoln Daily News was FAKE NEWS and that he/she was no longer going to be
a reader.
Our credo is to report news without censorship, without bias, presenting
balance, fact and maintain the highest standards of decency and ethics. With
this in mind, we get all of our "outside" news from an organization called
Reuters, and we chose them on purpose. Reuters is based in the UK, and unlike
U.S. news outlets, Reuters does not "have a dog in this fight." Reuters
maintains a sense of balance in the midst of this and every storm, and presents
U.S. and world news in the most objective sense.
When we assemble Lincoln Daily News six days a week, we obey the standards we
have carefully chosen. We never "cherry pick" articles because that could lead
to mirroring our own social or political positions, but rather present all the
news as it comes to us. We publish all the articles in each top ten section of
Reuters.
That means that there will be articles which are in support of and against this
and every President and political party.
In the last six days (counting to when the letter was received last week) LDN
had published 38 articles pertaining to the Presidency, and twelve of them were
positive about the current administration and President.

• WE DO NOT "CHERRY-PICK" AND LEAVE OUT VIEWPOINTS WE WISH DID NOT
EXIST.
• WE DO NOT PUBLISH ONLY THE ARTICLES THAT AGREE WITH OUR POLITICAL
LEANINGS. WE PUT IT ALL IN!
• WE DON'T CHANGE HEADLINES OR ARTICLE CONTENTS TO MAKE THEM MORE
PALATABLE TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER.
• WE DO NOT WRITE EDITORIALS OR EDITORIALIZE ARTICLES TO TELL PEOPLE
HOW TO THINK OR FEEL.
Lincoln Daily News does not exist to be part of the political
process, but instead to be part of the community and report on what
is going on, whether we like the news or not.
At times the articles Reuters publishes and LDN posts may offend
you, cause you to be dismayed, or even feel angry. The articles in
LDN are a reflection of exactly what is going on in our country and
our world, and at times all of us will have feelings about it. But
we stand by our process and our standards, and feel the result is
that our readers will be well informed with unbiased, balanced facts
and truth, rather than filled with FAKE NEWS.
