residents and surrounding communities:
On behalf of the Lincoln Park District and the Fireworks Committee,
thank you for supporting our 4th of July celebration. We hope to
continue this Independence Day community event and with your support
we can make it happen, generosity is what community is all about.
For those of you that might have missed this year’s event,
festivities began with our children’s parade in the morning, the
kids with all their colorful costumes, decorated bicycles and wagons
really set the tone for Independence Day and the events that
followed. The parade traveled down Wyatt Avenue and ended up at the
park district. After handing out awards to the children and a couple
of cute patriotic dogs, our local fire department stepped up next
cooling off the kids with one of their fire hoses.
I think the firemen enjoyed the event as much as the kids.
During the afternoon the park district hosted several fun games at
the pool with our lifeguard staff overseeing the events, the pool
was packed, and the kids enjoyed the water games.
The evening hours brought families out and they enjoyed playing Corn
Hole, having their faces painted, wearing one of the balloons
sculptors’ creations, playing in one of the bounce houses or eating
from one of the vendors while listening to the Josh Holland Band,
which led up to the fireworks.
The weather cooperated and even cooled off a bit
later in the evening making for a pleasant night.

I want to thank our committee for their effort and hard work
planning this event. This year’s committee included Abby Neece, Dane
Dalpoas, Morgan Gleason, Patti Becker, Jayne Weaver, Linda Nodine,
Gary Nodine, Karen Hargis and the park district staff. I would
especially like to thank committee member Karen Hargis, her effort
pursuing sponsors and raising funds to assist the park district in
paying for this event was outstanding, thank you, Karen. Finally, a
huge thank you to our sponsors and donors for the event, a list can

the IMAGE below.
Please support our event sponsors and their
businesses’ in the community. Thanks again stay cool; and don’t
forget about our pool, enjoy the rest of the summer.
