Junior Achievement receives $1,500 United Way of Logan County grant for Experiential Learning

 

[October 06, 2019]  LINCOLN - Junior Achievement is pleased to announce it has received a grant for $1,500 from United Way of Logan County. These funds will provide Junior Achievement classroom programs in Logan County schools.

“We are so thankful to United Way of Logan County for supporting Junior Achievement programs and the many students impacted through our mission,” said Mary Pille, President at Junior Achievement of Central Illinois. “Through this project, students Kindergarten – 12th grade will participate in experiential education to increase their knowledge and skills in the areas of work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.”

This is the first time in recent history Junior Achievement has received funding from United Way of Logan County and the new partnership will allow for continued expansion of K-12 programs in the Lincoln, IL area. During the 2018-2019 school year, Junior Achievement programs reached 402 students in Logan County, impacting 22 classrooms through 25 volunteers.

Junior Achievement of Central Illinois was founded in 1946 and has been an integral part of the education and business communities for the past 73 years. JA of Central Illinois currently operates in 133 schools and organizations within 8 counties. During the 2018-19 school year, 618 volunteers delivered JA programs in 835 classrooms, impacting 17,937 students in Central Illinois. On a national stage, nearly 5 million students are receiving JA programs with the support of a quarter million volunteers primarily from the business community.
