Lincoln College junior libero Megan Gilliam has been named the
Association of Independent Institution’s (AII) Volleyball Player of
the Week for October 7th-13th.
Consistent play in three matches last week earned Gilliam the
recognition of being named Player of the Week, but Lincoln Head
Coach Mark Tippett says he has been impressed by the Waterloo
native’s play all season long.
“It was just a matter of time before Megan earned a Player of the
Week award,” said Tippett. “She has been outstanding all season
long. Her passing off of serve receive is rock solid, she has been
fantastic on defense and she has improved her serving accuracy a
great deal too.”
Last week, Gilliam collected 13 digs and had 15 serve receptions
without an error in a 3-0 win against Harris Stowe State University.
She followed that performance with 24 digs and just one serve
receive error across 44 total chances in a thrilling five-set win
over College of the Ozarks. Gilliam also had 28 digs in a four-set
loss to Mid-America Nazarene University.

Currently, Gilliam is ranked 12th among all National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) players with 429 total digs and her
33 service aces rank her 38th nationally. Her sparkling play has
helped Lincoln achieve a 16-7 record so far and a number one ranking
among all independent institutions in the NAIA.
Gilliam joins teammates Hannah Cameron (Lincoln) and Mikayla Seibert
(Mackinaw) to become the third member of the Lady Lynx squad to
receive this honor in 2019.
