[October 10, 2019]  LINCOLN - Students from area high schools have begun working with mentors from the business community through the Land of Lincoln CEO class, hosted this quarter by Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

‘CEO’ stands for Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities and is a year-long, experimental learning-based course, designed to utilize partnerships in our community to provide our young people an overview of business processes and development.

Throughout the program year, students will visit local businesses, learn from guest speakers, participate in operating a class business, write a business plan, and, from concept to reality, build their own legal, functioning entity.

Thirteen area high school juniors and seniors are members of the class and have been matched with area entrepreneurs and business experts from the Lincoln and Logan County area.

Mentors include: John Radloff of Graue, Inc.; Brad Nikles of Nikles of Petersburg; Roni Shelton of Roni B Photography; Rachael Judd of Small Town Social; Nicole Cox of Yours Truly Bakery; Patrick Doolin of Integrity Data, Inc.; Abby Coers of Central Illinois Ag; Lesleigh Bennett of Bennett & Holland & Barry Funeral Home; Seth Goodman of ME Realty; Sarah Stuart Faith of Stuart Solutions; Matthew Xamis of Jim Xamis Ford; Kathie Williams of Small Town Creations and Vanessa Komnick of Blades.
