[October 15, 2019]  LINCOLN - Library youth programs begin in October.

Toddler Time
Ages 6 months to 3 years get a chance to sing, dance, and wiggle on Tuesdays and Wednesdays mornings from 10-10:20.

Story Time
Ages 3 to 5 years can listen to a story and participate in an activity Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:30-11.

STREAM
Grades K-2 will experiment in different scientific areas and create something to take home! STREAM meets Mondays from 3:30-4. Children must be able to use glue and scissors!

The Lincoln Public Library is located at 725 Pekin St., with adult nonfiction and reference materials in the historic Carnegie Building. The Annex directly behind houses adult fiction and the Youth Services Department.

All library events are free and open to the public.

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Explorer Club
Grades 3rd-5th will enjoy activities based on engineering, biology, technology, and art. The program meets Thursday afternoons, 3:30-4:15.

Dungeons & Dragons
Grades 9th-12th can join us on a quest to learn the basics of D&D before starting up our very own campaign. Sessions are Fridays from 3:30-4:45.

Live Action Escape Room
All ages are welcome to attempt the Escape Room. Grades 6th and older can attempt the challenge with their friends and/or family. Grades 5th and younger can attempt the challenge with their friends with at least on adult. Adults can attempt with or without younger family members. Preferably, groups should be limited to 5 people. Times can be signed up for when registering. Participants can choose between 4 days: October 28th, 29th, 30th, and 31st.

CIRCULATION NEWS

Fix-It Lincoln – The Library now offers a new collection of books on maintenance, repair, and upkeep. The books include topics such as automobiles, homes, lawns, health care, musical instruments, boats, and much more. Funding for this grant was awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library.

Links on our Website - Our website has links to many free services, such as Library On The Go, WorldCat, Khan Academy, the improved World Book Web, and our Ask A Librarian service, as well as various downloadable forms. Check out what’s new!

3M Cloud – This is our new ebook database, which is an addition to our existing Library On The Go database. Thousands of titles are available, with more being added weekly, and can be searched via our online catalog. You will need a PIN number to get started. Stop by our Circulation Department for easy instructions.

Zinio – An electronic magazine collection with hundreds of titles. Create your account with Zinio from our website and start reading. Stop by the Circulation Desk for more information.

Going on a trip? – The Circulation Staff can put a hold on any outstanding requests you may have so you will get them when you return. Just stop by and let the staff know your travel dates.

E-mails and text messages – Our computer program allows patrons to receive texts and/or
e-mails for notification of reserved items and overdue notices. If you are interested in this service, please talk to a member of our Circulation Staff.

PIN Numbers – Don’t forget to take advantage of a PIN number (password) for your account. With a PIN, you can search the entire POLARIS system, see what items you have out, and request and renew books from home.

Gift Certificates – Need a gift idea? You can purchase a one year Library card for an individual or complete family that lives out of the library district. We will provide a gift certificate for presenting, and the recipient can bring it in, along with a photo ID and proof of address to receive their own Library Card.

Book Clubs - The Annex Building Circulation Desk collects reading lists for all the Book Clubs in the area. So if you can’t remember what you read or what you are supposed to read, we have you covered.
