The Lincoln College Women’s Swimming and Diving
team earned a close win in the team’s first home event of the
year. LC hosted Maryville University (NCAA DII) for a dual meet
on Friday, October 18th. The women won by a score of 120 to 110,
but the men’s squad fell to MU 96-65.
A few highlights from the event for Lincoln included junior
Colleen Ferguson (Marshal Islands) wining the women’s 200 yard
backstroke, 100 yard backstroke and 50 yard freestyle events.
Freshman Saydey Shubert (Canton) won the women’s 200 yard
breaststroke and, on the men’s side, Pago, Samoa native Sitivi
Sooaemalelagi took first in the 1000 yard freestyle and 100 yard
fly events.
Lincoln Head Coach Johnathan Jordan was pleased with the results
of the day. “Many athletes stepped up for this meet by swimming
events they don't normally swim,” said Jordan. “We also saw many
season best swims with a few lifetime best swims, which is great
to have this early in the season.”
Next up for LC will be another home event on October 26th
against Illinois College. The action begins at 1:00 PM.
