 The site is the former location of the Millwright
Union Hall and before that housed Graue Pharmacy.
The building has been purchased by ME Realty owner
Seth Goodman. ME has moved into the west end of the building with
HeadLines Salon to the east end, and across the hall Serenity Now
filling out the building in its entirety.
The ribbon cut will be a first of sorts, because it is celebrating
the address and all three businesses at the same time. Look forward
to seeing and spending time with Goodman and his team of ME realtors
and other staff; HeadLine Salon owners Danielle Meister, Liz Hays
and Brett Robison with staff member Shay Barger; and also Kay
Anderson, the owner of Serenity Now massage therapy.
After the cut, guests will be invited to visit the three businesses
starting with ME. The offices have new paint and new décor. Walk
through the French doors in the ME lobby and enjoy spending time
with the fine folks at HeadLines, then keep walking just a little
bit further to enjoy the space occupied by Serenity Now.
Somewhere along the way, be sure to check for some breakfast treats
to get you morning off to a sweet day.
ME Realty
ME Realty is a long standing realtor agency in Lincoln that has been
around through a number of owners.
Here’s a bit of trivia for you. Is it ME as “me myself and I” or is
it M.E. Realty as in someone’s initials? The answer - the business
is M.E. named after the founding owner Mary Ellen Copeland. Goodman
said that is a fact about the business that many have forgotten, and
many didn’t know in the first place.
ME Realty started out with owner Copeland, then it was sold to
Carolyn McMath who owned it a number of years. Mike Simonson also
owned the business for a short period of time; then Goodman
purchased it in 2012.
Goodman said that in light of the fact that he had just recently
done a re-model on the two story house that has served as the real
estate office on North McLean, he really wasn’t intending to make
this big move with the business at this time. The McLean Street
location has been the constant within the business for many years.
However, kind of on a whim he said when he saw that 602 Keokuk was
for sale he decided to go check it out. Goodman said that in the
back of his mind, he has always wanted a realty office that was a
little more professional in its presentation to the public.
The Millwright had sectioned off the building into office areas,
meeting rooms and other usable spaces that Goodman saw as a very
good fit for his growing group of staff.
Included on the staff list at ME Realty is Goodman, who is the
Broker/Owner; Managing Broker Diane Schriber, Licensed Assistants
Gaynor Goodman and Aric Hopp and agents Colleen Riesselman, Mike
Miller, Chris Ciaccio, Chynna Farmer, Marsha Fernandes, Robert Neal,
Erin Burns, Kim Burlison, Andy Meister and Ty Tucker.
Goodman said that the business has grown a lot over the last few
years, and the McLean Street location was getting crowded. The new
location offers more privacy for staff and clients as well as
offering the ‘more professional’ atmosphere.
Goodman is looking forward to a long history in his new location.
The offices are open daily, but he and his agents are flexible in
the times they will meet with clients. Each person on staff has
their own phone number for contact or there is an office number
217-735-5424.
HeadLines Salon
HeadLines Salon is a second business that has relocated into the
building. They were formerly located on South Sangamon Street. The
Salon is owned by Hays, Meister and Robison.
The three are excited about their new location for a
number of reasons. Location is a big plus as the intersection of
North Logan and Keokuk is one of the busiest in town.

In addition, the owners said that they are very much
enjoying the floor plan at the new location. Even though in matters
of square feet the space is not much larger than their previous
location, the layout includes an assortment of smaller rooms that
afford privacy for the clients during some of the services HeadLines
offers. The main salon is spacious with an open floor plan that
allows for several workstations plus a nice waiting area for
walk-ins and early arrivals for appointments.
The services offered by HeadLines Salon includes cuts, coloring,
facial waxing, body waxing, spray tanning, and makeup. The group
enjoys doing the special occasion hairstyles for clients who are
wedding bound or off to the prom. In addition to the three owners,
HeadLines also has employee Shay Barger on hand. Shay specializes in
the make-up services and looks forward to serving clients in the new
location.
In addition to services, HeadLines carries some popular name brand
hair and styling products such as Redken, Amika, Milbon and Purelology.
The shop is open Tuesday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. They will
also accommodate clients on Saturday’s by appointment only. The
group does welcome walk-ins with the understanding appointment
clients come first, and walk-in may have to wait a bit to be worked
into the rotation.
Liz and Danielle say that they are excited about this big move and
believe the new shop offers a spacious, casual laid-back atmosphere
that clients will appreciate, “We’re excited for this new venture
and starting a new chapter in our business. We’re looking for to
growing our business in this beautiful new location.”
Serenity Now
The third business relocating to 602 Keokuk is Serenity Now owned by
Kay Anderson. Anderson has for the past 20 plus years been offering
massage therapy to clients in the community. She specializes in
Swedish massage and hot rock massage.
As a special treat, Kay will be offering free ‘seated massages’ at
the ribbon cutting.
Anderson laughed and said that this most recent move was more or
less decided for her, though she doesn’t mind one bit. Anderson has
had her business in a number of locations, but most recently she has
been utilizing the upstairs of the former ME Realty office. She said
that one day Goodman came to visit her and he told her he was moving
ME, “and you should move with me.” Anderson said she was fine with
that as she didn’t relish being the only one in the house on McLean
Street. It was also unknown what a new owner of the building might
choose to do with it. Finally and echoing the other businesses, the
location is good, and Anderson is excited about being right next
door to HeadLines.
Anderson is a one-person shop with no plans of expanding. She’s
looking forward to her continued good relationship with landlord
Goodman.
Anderson explained that she is a nurse by trade and when she started
doing massage it was somewhat on the side, even though it was the
path she truly wanted to take in life. She has been located with a
number of other businesses such as spending a time next to Primp
hair salon on North Kickapoo. On November 1st of 2015 she moved into
the ME building and has been happy there.
However, the new location offers some definite advantages including
that clients do not have to go up stairs to reach her.
In addition, Anderson and Goodman noted that several years ago, she
was located in the adjacent building on Keokuk that is now Anytime
Fitness. Hair Headquarters was located there and Anderson had a
space within that salon. So, Anderson noted that returning to Keokuk
was almost like coming home.
Anderson is available by appointment only, but says she is very
flexible on the hours of day she will serve clients. To make an

Ribbon cut
The community is invited to attend, and walk through all three
businesses. The cut will be at 9 a.m. with an open house style walk
through of the building immediately following. Be sure to come in
and enjoy a morning treat and visit with the owners and staff of all
three businesses.
