College hosting first “Following the Money” Workshop

Lincoln College’s MacKinnon School of Business is hosting its next
workshop in the Here’s How series called Following the Money geared
toward introducing area business leaders to key areas of business
management. The workshop will take place Monday, November 18, 8:30
a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Alumni Room on the Lincoln College campus
in Lincoln.

Cost is $10 before November 14 deadline or $20 after and at the

During the workshop, participants will hear from three presenters
delivering information on financial success and data collection, tax
related processes, and program financing and funding. The sessions

Stop Flying Blind- Know Your Key Numbers
Presenter: Tim Bacus, J.M. Abbott & Associates and Pacesetter
Financial
Whether your business is just starting or is well-established,
data-less decision making remains an early indicator of small
business financial failure. Fortunately for time-strapped small
business leaders, data collection best practices can be easy to
learn and easy to implement. Get answers and learn how to: Identify
the key number on which your business’ financial success, failure or
turns; track your key numbers with free or inexpensive software; and
use your key numbers to influence your day-to day goals and decision
making.

Easy Tax Planning & Organizing for Small Businesses
Presenter: Andy Fitzpatrick, Abbott & Associates
Learn strategies for planning, organizing, and filing business taxes
with ease. This session will help you analyze the past year, and see
what tax related process can be improved; understand what you need
and don’t need for filing; earn tips and tools to help you stay
organized throughout the year; and when to become an LLC, and when
to make the leap to a corporation.
Financing & Funding Programs for Startups and Businesses
Presenter: Charlie White, Small Business Administration
This session will explain SBA and conventional financing and funding
programs and how businesses can benefit from them. Various SBA loan
programs (7a, 504, and microloans), and well as conventional
business lending opportunities, will be discussed.
