 The 2019 Capital City Century was held on Sunday,
September 8, 2019 and began at the new Student Union on the campus
of the University of Illinois at Springfield.
The bike ride featured routes of 25 miles, 40 miles,
62 miles and 100 miles, thus the “Century.” Sunday marked the 47th
Annual Capital City Century, an event put on by the Springfield
Bicycle Club.
Lincoln residents Michael Gowin, Derek Reid and Brian
Siltman each finished 100 miles and earned the right to ring the
bell and get a special photo opportunity with Abraham Lincoln at the
after-ride party.
Abraham Lincoln was portrayed by George Buss. The event featured
approximately 800 cyclists.
