[September 12, 2019]   LINCOLN - On Sunday, Lincoln Christian Church hosted the 27th Harvest of Talents Musical Offering for World Hunger. As always, the many talented local musicians and the crowd came together to express to love for people around the world. The funds raised will help feed hungry and hurting people.

Keith Snyder welcomed the crowd that filled the sanctuary as he said music moves and stirs our emotions in ways pictures cannot. Snyder said we can rewrite the stories with generous support and he thanked God for the stories the music can tell as the money raised helps people.

This year’s theme was a Disney Extravaganza with many songs from Disney movies both old and new. Other musical styles included classical, sacred, pop, and Broadway.

Linda Storm began the day’s music playing instrumental versions of songs from the Star War’s movies.

Next up was Reflections from Mulan, the popular 1988 movie, sung by talented youth Charlie McFadden.

Songs from the original Cinderella included “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” “When You’re Driving Through the Moonlight” and “A Lovely Night.” Performances were by Fairy Godmother Brandon Davis and cast of characters Brian Bolton, Sheralyn Bolton, Aaron Hinton, Barry King, Julie King, Emmary Roemer, Kelly Rosendahl, Lauren Stanfield and Jill Voyles.

“A Fairytale Medley of Early Disney Tunes” blended songs from such classics as Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Song of the South, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty performed by Gail King.

Rounding out the Disney music was the “Beauty and the Beast Medley” performed by Abigail Funk, Aaron Hinton and the H.O.T. ensemble and “Speechless” from Aladdin performed by Brenda Popham.

Broadway tunes from “A Grand Night for Singing Medley” included various showtunes like “The Parent Medley - When the Children are Asleep” and “My Little Girl” from Carousel, “I Know it Can Happen Again” from Allegro and “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific with performances by Emmary Roemer and Curt Schleich.

The afternoon’s performances ended with “God Bless America” performed by the combined church choirs, the H.O.T. ensemble and the H.O.T. junior ensemble.

Before a free will offering was taken up, Pat Snyder told stories of the starving children these events raise money for. She said our imagination should visualize healthy food, clean water and God’s love being provided to hungry people. Snyder asked everyone to donate to show love before praying for the offering.

The Harvest of Talents Musical Offering for World Hunger provided an afternoon of great entertainment raising a record $5,035.05 to help feed the hungry.
