Obituary
Beulah “Rosalie” Blansfield Howe, 93,
of Mount Pulaski passed away on Tuesday, September
10, 2019 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount
Pulaski.
Roslaie was born on December 18, 1925 in Adair. The
daughter of Everett and Beulah (Turner) Blansfield.
Rosalie enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing in her
earlier years, reading, working crossword puzzles,
gardening, canning, playing Friday night cards with
church friends, her church family and being with her
family.
On July 4, 1944 she married Wilbur “Bill” James
Roethe of Pickneyville. They owned and operated a
gas station and a real estate agent in Bushnell
until they moved to Salem in 1962, later to
Scottsdale, AZ, back to Salem, and then Springfield.
On October 10, 1986, Rosalie married Everett Ray
Howe of Latham, and lived there until going into
Vonderlieth Living Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Wilbur “Bill” Roethe; husband,
Everett Howe; son, Roger Roethe; son-in-law, Ron
Holdman; stepson, Randy Howe; and stepson-in-law,
Mike Altherr.

Rosalie is survived by her daughter,
Kathy (Roethe) Holdman of Bonne Terre, MO;
daughter-in-law, Connie (Mike) Roethe Smith of
Shannon; stepdaughters, Donna Altherr of Decatur;
and Linda (Larry) Roberts of Corona Del Mar, CA;
grandchildren, Rodney (Kim) Holdman, Ryan (Cassie)
Holdman, Ross (Kristin) Holdman, Rhett (Becky)
Roethe, Reid Roethe, Megan (A. J. Dixon) Denison,
Brennan (Katy) Roberts, and Courtney Howe;
great-grandchildren, Lukas, Hannah, Ashton, Evan,
Owen, Alaynah, Hunter, and Kolten Holdman; Sloan,
Blythe, Logan, and Davis Roethe.
Services for Rosalie will be held at 3:00 p.m. on
Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the First United
Methodist Church in Latham. Visitation will take
place two hours prior to the service (1:00-3:00
p.m.) also at the church. Burial will take place at
3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019 at Mueller
Hill Cemetery in Pickneyville.
Memorial donations may be made in Rosalie’s name to
Latham United Methodist Church or The Latham Fire
Department.
Services have been entrusted to
