Kids were anxiously waiting for the parade to begin. One mom said
her kids were so excited, they had been asking all day when the
parade would start.
This year’s theme was 'Changing Times' and it was well represented
by some of the entries.
The Atlanta National Bank won first place in the for-profit pick-up
category with changes through the decades as employees dressed in
clothing styles from past eras.
In the non-profit pick-up truck entry, first place was awarded to a
replica of Hawes Grain Elevator Museum.
Susan Swearingen received first place for costumed walkers by
wearing a sign that said “Change with the times, go digital.
Several children rode decorated bicycles through the parade route
and young Joanie and Olivia were awarded first place.
The Flowerbuds received first place for the one and only float
entered in the parade.
Newly crowned festival princess Hailynn Emery and Prince Luke Wibben
rode through the parade on a new golf cart.

Other local royalty participating in the parade were Logan County Fair Queen
Skye Kretzinger, Junior Miss Anna Kindred and Little Miss Joli Grisham.
Other entries included elected officials and candidates running for office in
the upcoming March election, several area businesses, the Olympia Spartans
Marching Band, the American Legion, the Boy Scouts and the Tin Lizzie Patrol.
The parade also featured local emergency units such as the Atlanta Fire
Department, Rural Fire Department, and the Atlanta Rescue Squad.
As always, children watching from the sidelines rushed to catch the candy being
thrown.
After the parade, the community band and chorus provided musical entertainment.
The men of the Atlanta Methodist Church prepared an Angus Tri-Tip for the large
meal served in the Community House in the evening.
Saturday’s events also included a morning baking contest, kiddie tractor pull,
karaoke contest and auction in addition to several food vendors, rides, carnival
games and BINGO that took place throughout the festival.
