The Lincoln College Men’s Soccer team
successfully defended their home field on Saturday with a 2-0
victory over the visitors from Oakland City University (NCAA).
Junior Miguel De La Rosa (Ecuador) got LC on the board with a
goal in the 40th minute of play and senior Adrian Roman
(Waukegan) added an insurance goal late in the second half to
give the Lynx their fifth win of the season. Senior goalie
Pierson Fleming (Springfield) made three saves to preserve the
shutout.
“We worked hard and made smart decisions today,” said Lincoln
Head Coach Ben Massena. “It was a great bounce-back win after
taking a couple of tough losses last weekend. I was proud of the
way the guys responded.”
Perhaps the pregame pep-talk from former Lincoln College
All-American goalie Jarod Thomas (2010) aided in getting the
team motivated to play. In addition to Thomas, a member of the
first Lincoln College soccer team that took the field in 1966
was present at the match.
Lincoln (5-4-1) will look to make it two-in-a-row on Friday when
they travel to Forest City, Indiana to take on Waldorf
University.
