[April 01, 2020]  The Heartland Hawks athletics teams have joined with other colleges in their conference to suspend play for the Spring 2020 season.

M-WAC Athletics Directors have jointly agreed to suspend their seasons though April 3rd in reaction to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The decision directly preceded the NJCAA announcement of a suspension of the collegiate season.

NJCAA officials stated that should conditions improve, regions and individual colleges will be allowed to resume regular season competition in a format and time period following April 3rd that has been approved by the region.

Heartland Hawks Baseball and Softball teams will continue to practice with additional measures added to reduce risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Practices will be primarily held outdoors with indoor practices limited to a maximum of 25 players. The Athletics department will also take other precautionary measures such as monitoring, social distancing and enhanced sanitization of facilities before and after practice.

The Fitness and Recreation Center (FRC) will remain closed through March 22 for a deep cleaning. College officials will make a determination during the extended Spring Break period on the use of the FRC following March 22.
