 Students who have already registered for face-to-face
summer classes will be required to re-register for the comparable
class online.
Students are directed to check their IRIS account through
my.heartland.edu to see if classes have been dropped and no longer
appear on their personal schedule. Classes that were originally in
an online format are not affected.
If the summer class has been dropped, students will need to
re-enroll into the appropriate class in IRIS. Unfortunately some
lab-based classes are not able to be offered in an online format and
will remain cancelled.
Students will be prompted to take a one-time online course awareness
survey before enrolling, if they have not already completed it.
Enrollment assistance is available through the
advisement office. Students are asked to email

or call 309-268-8027 during regular business hours to schedule a
phone appointment.

“Transparency to students of expectations between a fully online
class and an in-person course continues to be a priority,” said Dr. Rick Pearce,
Provost and Vice President, Academic Affairs. “In line with past practices, we
will not make the assumption for the student that an online course will work for
them, especially in the shorter summer term. The online awareness survey helps
to make students aware of the technology and internet requirements necessary to
be successful in an online course.”
Heartland continues to offer additional technical support for online students
via 24-hour support from the Canvas Learning Management System and the Heartland
Online Learning Support page.
The first of the Summer 2020 semester academic classes begin May 18.
