On
Thursday afternoon, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced that
beginning May 1st, there will be a new modified Stay at Home order
to last through May 31st. Included in the modifications is the
re-opening of some portions of state parks with restrictions. Garden
Centers and nurseries will be permitted to open with social
distancing observed. Non-essential businesses will be able to sell
out their front doors and online but will not be open to shoppers.
Face masks will be REQUIRED in indoor spaces such as grocery stores
for everyone over the age of two. This includes shoppers and clerks.
Included in the governor's press release was this chart. The heavy
black line shows the actual number of COVID-19 deaths in the state.
The blue arc shows what those death tolls would have looked like
without the current stay at home order. The orange arc shows what
the death toll numbers would look like into the summer if the state
abruptly lifted the stay at home order at the end of April.
The complete release is posted today in Lincoln Daily News.
