HAS YOUR ILLINOIS STATE REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ON MADIGAN TO RESIGN?

Illinois Policy Institute/ Ben Szalinski

Pressure is growing on the longest-serving state House speaker in American history to resign as federal investigators probe his relationships with corporate lobbyists.

Michael Madigan is feeling pressure from inside his own party to resign as Illinois House speaker and as president of the Democratic Party of Illinois.

Nine Democratic lawmakers have made unconditional calls for him to leave the leadership roles in the wake of federal charges filed against ComEd that implicated Madigan. Other Democrats have followed Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s lead in making a more nuanced rebuke, asking for Madigan’s resignation if the allegations are proved.
