For three of our readers, the game was made to
look easy as two of them identified the park on the first day.
The third, identified it on the second day.
Bob Fulk said that he reads Lincoln Daily News
and is enjoying the game. He said when he saw the photo
snippets from the Chautauqua era of the park, he was reminded of
something. His fiancé Tammy Elam had shown him photos on social
media posted by a relative. Those pics in the paper jogged his
memory.
Fulk said knows the park well, and has some very
fond memories. “I am familiar with the park and have fond
memories of playing on the fields and mushroom hunting, and
sledding, and lightning bug observances during mating season. My
most fondest memories are hanging out with best friends the
weekends, and enjoying the great outdoors and having a small
fire to roast hot dogs on, getting ate up by mosquitos at
midnight. Ahh, the good old days!!”
Running a tight second with Fulk was Deb Ebelherr
and her three grandkids Cooper, Cadence and Charli Hill.
Ebelherr said she is very familiar with the park because she
spends a lot of time there. “We always enjoy going to Memorial
Park, have for years!”
With Fulk coming in first and Ebelherr second,
LDN is also throwing out an “honorable mention” to GD Purdue of
Cincinnati, Ohio.
Purdue is from Lincoln, living out of state now,
but reads LDN daily. When the clues came out Purdue dropped LDN
an email. “I am from Cincinnati, but raised in Lincoln and
follow your contest. Are these pictures from Memorial Park or
what used to be called 100 years ago Chautauqua park. Sorry I
cannot get a selfie.”
LDN is going to give you a pass on the selfie GD,
and appreciate that you utilize Lincoln Daily News to keep up
with all the happenings back home.
This week on Tuesday, we will start week three of
our Eye Spy game. We hope that readers will take the time to
view the photo snippets and read the clues. Then go to the
place and take a selfie. All those who submit correct answers
will be recognized in the Monday, August 17th,
edition.
