Benninger awarded Walt Landers Wrestling Scholarship

The Lincoln Area Wrestling Boosters Association is pleased to announce that
Jake Benninger has been awarded the 3rd Annual Walt Landers Wrestling Scholarship. Jake will receive $1000.00 to apply towards his tuition as he prepares to attend Eureka College, Eureka IL. this fall. Jake wrestled for the Lincoln Railer Wrestling Team for three years and fell just short of qualifying for the IHSA State Tournament his junior and senior years. Jake will be a member of the Eureka College Red Devils Football Team. Jake’s parents are Jerry and Tricia Benninger of Lincoln.

The scholarship is available to any senior wrestler, statistician or manager involved in the Lincoln Community High School Wrestling program. Candidates are required to have 3 or more years of experience within the sport of wrestling at LCHS to be eligible. A list of the requirements are as follows:

● Any senior wrestler, statistician, or manager that has been involved in the wrestling program at LCHS for at least 3 years (including senior year)

● Cumulative GPA 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale after 7 semesters

● Recommendation letter from at least 1 coach

● Plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or trade school the fall semester post-graduation
