All grade schools and junior highs in Logan County
were contacted and given Happy Feet shopping slips. These shopping
slips were then distributed to families with students in need of new
shoes to start the school year.
We have been blessed to continue our relationship with Shoe
Sensation located in Taylorville, IL. They bring a truck load of
shoes and workers to make this event a success focused around the
students! Shoe Sensation Community Outreach Program also donates a
pair of socks for each student.

We have the families come to the Elk's Ballroom for the students
to get sized for their shoes. This is when they get their brand new pair of
socks, hand sanitizer, candy and a coloring book. The Emblem Club ladies
volunteer throughout the entire day to have the ballroom set up like a store so
the students can easily browse their size and preferred style.
The final shoe count at the end of Happy Feet 2020 was 79 new pairs of
shoes making the grand total of shoes given in 5 years to be 288!
We also send out a big thank you to the Lincoln Elks Lodge #914 for their
continual support and assistance. This program is made possible through the
Gratitude Grant from the National Elks Foundation.
