Obituary

Rita Ann Horton, 75, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Memorial Hospital, in Springfield.

Rita was born on December 12, 1944 in Granite City, the daughter of Orville and Lourine (Gilmore) Barr. Rita married Bobby J. Horton on August 1, 1964 in Elmhurst. Bobby preceded her in death.

Rita is survived by her children: Caleb Horton, Jacob (Ashley) Horton, and Patience (Craig) Davis; grandchildren: Talon, Abigail, and Samuel; step-grandchildren: Clay, Carson, and Colton. Brothers; Daniel (Peggy) Barr, John (Debbi) Barr.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Bobby and sisters, Elaine Ansley and Lorraine Fenoughty.

Rita was a loving wife, mother, nanny, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her family’s happiness was most important to her. Her ministry, hospitality, and passion was prayer. She would pray for her family, friends, and needs of others and was a member of several prayer groups. She was a Sunday school teacher to children and adults and was a small groups leader.

She loved to crochet and sew, loved to make hats for friends and St. Jude’s Hospital and blankets for children’s hospitals. She really liked bingo, bird watching with her beloved husband Bobby and walking on the beach. She lived in the moment treasuring the sound of laughter and singing to her children and grandchildren.

She was the former owner of Shear Master Salon and also employed at Economy Insurance, Walmart, Kroger’s deli, Dr. Drake’s office and Little Lamb’s Day Care.

A celebration of Rita’s life will be live streamed on Faith Assembly of God's Facebook page on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made in Rita’s name to The Missions Ministry at Faith Assembly of God in Lincoln.
