- Melissa Ann Nixon, 70, of Mount Pulaski passed away
on Friday, December 11, 2020 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in
Rockford, surrounded by her loving family.

Obituary
Melissa Ann Nixon, 70, of Mount
Pulaski passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at
OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford,
surrounded by her loving family.
Melissa was born on December 1, 1950 in
Lawrenceville, the daughter of Frank and Betty (Pennels)
Potts. She married Gerald Wayne Nixon on September
18, 1971 in St. Francisville. He preceded her in
death on September 4, 2019.
Melissa is survived by her daughters, Amy and Megan
Nixon both of Mount Pulaski; three grandchildren,
Madison, Grace, and Meridith; two sisters, Marlena
(Larry) Rhinehart and Pamela Harmon; and one
brother, Richard Potts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her
daughter, Meredith; and her brother-in-law, Joe.
Melissa was a very faithful person even from a young
age, she was always active in the churches that she
attended. Melissa enjoyed crafting and found peace
tending to her flower gardens. |
She operated her own daycare in Mount
Pulaski for many years; touching the lives of many
families, most recently some notable nurses at The
Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Friday, December 18, 2020 at First Christian Church
in Decatur, and a memorial gathering will follow the
service also at the church.
Memorial donations may be made in Melissa’s name to
First Christian Church in Decatur or St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital.
