Obituary
Michael J. Vanos, 42, of Lincoln,
passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday,
December 14, 2020. Michael was born in Evanston, on
August 12, 1978 to John Vanos and Anastasia (Demertzis-
Vanos) Behrends.
He is survived by his mother, Stacie; brothers Jimmy
and George (Taylor) Vanos; and his son, John
“Johnny” Vanos of Lincoln his aunt Cathy Demertzis;
cousins Tolis (Heidi), Steven, Effie Demertzis of
Wake Forest, North Carolina; his nieces and nephews
Zaylie, Kinzley, Niko, Taso, Demetri, Eleni, and
Victoria; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in
Greece. He is preceded in death by his father, John;
stepfather, Bernard “Bernie” Behrends; and his
grandparents; Apostolos and Efrosini Demertzis and
Georgia and Michael Salvanos.
Michael loved listening to music, collecting
baseball cards, cars (especially his beloved
Mustang), and cooking. He enjoyed being around
people and never met a stranger. He was loved by
everyone that had the honor to know him and had the
most infectious smile and laugh. |
Above all, Michael fiercely loved his
family, especially his son Johnny who was his entire
world. Michael cherished every single moment he
spent with him. They were the best of friends and
were found often watching movies or playing video
games together.
A private burial service will be held for the
immediate family with a Celebration of Life to be
held at a later date.
Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
