			LINCOLN
			- The Relay Kick-Off meeting on Monday, January 27 began with 2020
co-chairs, Nicole Lee and Tabatha Weidhuner, fielding new ideas for
ways to do Relay this year. David Shindley, ACS regional leader, was
present to share ideas other counties have used in the past to
enhance the raising of funds to beat cancer. |

After lots of discussion, team leaders and organizers
have come up with a tentative plan for this year. The biggest change
will be combining the survivor dinner with the event and honoring
them as the focus for the evening.
“Some of them have had to make a choice as to whether
to come to the dinner, a couple of days ahead of relay, or come to
the event. This way they are the center of attention and a big
reminder of why we fight for a cure”, says co-chair, Nicole Lee.

The second biggest change will be to shorten the
event from all day to four hours; another way for survivors to be
able to be present for the whole event.
The 2020 Relay Night of Hope will be held at the Jack Nutt Arena
(new gym) at Lincoln College on Saturday, June 20th from 4:00 to
8:00 pm. with the theme being, “2020 Lights, Camera, Action”.

The tentative program will include the opening
ceremony with the honorary chair’s speeches, the survivor dinner, a
silent auction, and luminaria program. The public will be invited to
purchase dinner tickets in advance for a full meal being provided by
Guzzardo’s Italian Restaurant and the Lincoln College. More details
			to come.
Registration of teams and team members is encouraged
ASAP so teams can do fundraising, collect luminaria honorary names
and make sure Survivor information is correct and recorded.

We need more teams and individuals wanting to join a
team to go to Relay for Life of Logan County online and register or
contact any member of Relay, co-chairs, Toni Reifsteck at
(217)855-1645 or Karen Hargis (217)737-7418. There will also be a
booth at the Farmer’s Market at the Logan County Fairgrounds this
season where individuals may register and purchase luminaria.

Please consider helping us raise money to find a cure for this
horrendous invasion to a healthy life; as well as remembering and
honoring those who have or are fighting this monster.
