Oh, they did get within one point after a couple of Alan Griffin
3-pointers. But the Terps staved off the threat without too much
trouble. The Terps started the 2nd half
on an 11-0 run and never trailed again. Illinois shot a woeful 26%
in the second stanza including a dismal 22% from three. And their
14-0f-24 58% performance from the free throw line sealed their fate.
Ayo Dosunmu led the way for the Illini with 16 points while Andres
Feliz rattled in 12 points. No other Illini player reached double
figures.
With the loss the Illini slide to 16-7 overall and 8-4 in league
play. And after all that, how about a Tuesday night game with
pre-season national top-five, Michigan State? Going into this 5-game
stretch against all ranked opponents we said that IF Illinois could
somehow go 2-3 they’d be okay. Now they have to go 2-2 over the next
four and it just gets tougher. [to top of second column] |
